Students sitting in WHS Library waiting for the military program to start

Woodland High School proudly hosted its 3rd Annual Military Day on Friday, April 25, 2025, offering students a unique opportunity to connect with active-duty service members and veterans from across the United States Armed Forces. This impactful event was coordinated by Career Specialist Rania Thompson, who has been instrumental in bridging the gap between education and career exploration for WHS students.

Representatives from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Army Reserves spoke with students in grades 9–12, sharing personal stories and insights about life in the military. They also discussed a range of career paths and benefits available through military service, from college tuition assistance to specialized training in high-demand fields.

Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive sessions that allowed them to ask questions, explore equipment displays, and gain a better understanding of what military life entails. The event was designed not only to inform but also to inspire students who may be considering service as a future career option.

Principal Tamara Rolack praised the event’s success: “Military Day is always a highlight of our year. It gives students a realistic and respectful look at what it means to serve our country. We are incredibly thankful for the men and women who took the time to invest in our students’ futures.”

Woodland High School remains committed to supporting all post-secondary pathways, including college, career, and military service. Events like Military Day reinforce the school’s dedication to empowering students to make informed and purposeful decisions about their futures.
