Dorchester School District Four recently concluded its first-ever DD4 Youth Basketball season, a districtwide initiative that brought energy, excitement, and student pride to elementary schools across the community.
The program, designed to introduce students to team sports while promoting physical activity, school spirit, and sportsmanship, featured teams from each elementary school competing for a spot in the district championship. The season culminated in a thrilling set of semifinal games on April 28, followed by the championship matchup on April 30, all held at Woodland High School’s gymnasium.
The competition was fierce but full of heart as students from Williams Memorial Elementary, Clay Hill Elementary, and Harleyville Elementary gave it their all on the court. WMES Blue and Harleyville Elementary emerged victorious in the semifinals, setting the stage for a high-energy final matchup.
In the end, Harleyville Elementary School was crowned CHAMPIONS of the inaugural DD4 Youth Basketball Championships, bringing home the trophy after an incredible performance marked by hustle, teamwork, and determination.
Spectators were treated to more than just basketball; they witnessed the growth of student confidence, leadership, and camaraderie. Young athletes stepped up, some for the very first time, learning the value of perseverance, teamwork, and school pride.
With an enthusiastic response from students, families, and school communities, the inaugural DD4 Youth Basketball season has laid the foundation for a beloved new tradition. Plans are already underway to make next year’s season even bigger and better.
