The 2025 FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) brought together more than 10,000 students, educators, and guests from across the country. Held in Orlando, Florida, the event provided students with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, explore career options, and hear from dynamic motivational speakers.

A centerpiece of the conference was the Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events, where over 4,300 FCCLA members competed in a range of categories. These events highlighted students’ achievements in individual and chapter projects, leadership, and career readiness. Collaboration between students and adult mentors played a key role in developing real-world skills throughout the competitions.

Woodland High School was proudly represented by nine exceptional young women who competed in various STAR Events. The team earned multiple Gold and Silver medals, with two groups finishing among the top ten nationally.

During the national awards ceremony, five Woodland students, Heather Aycock, Roxanna Britt, Jamayah Footman, Janelle Footman, and Emani Holmes, were recognized as Top Ten Finalists.

Individual and Team Awards:

  • Zoee Middleton received a Gold Medal for her Repurpose and Redesign project.

  • Heather Aycock, Jamayah Footman, and Emani Holmes earned a Gold Medal for their Focus on Children project.

  • Roxanna Britt, Janelle Footman, and Justice Pryor achieved a Gold Medal in Interpersonal Communications.

  • Jaziya Davis and Erin Garvin were awarded Silver Medals in Entrepreneurship.

Woodland High and Dorchester School District Four celebrate the accomplishments of these students and commend them for their hard work, leadership, and outstanding representation at the national level.
